700 new homes to be built in Huddersfield

Miller Homes has acquired land at Blackmoorfoot Road, Huddersfield in a joint venture with Vistry Group.

Together, over 700 homes will be built including 231 homes by Miller Homes under the development name, Hawksley Park.

“Miller Homes is delighted to be a partner in this visionary scheme to deliver new homes for Huddersfield through the purchase of this significant site,” said Justin Tranmere, Regional Managing Director, Miller Homes Yorkshire. “It’s an exciting venture which will bring a superb choice of much needed, homes for people wishing to purchase property in the area.”

Miller Homes will also contribute over £2 million to the local community through Section 106 contributions including £397,000 to sustainable transport, £15,000 to a travel plan, £47,000 to bus stop facilities, £552,000 to highways contributions and £1,312,000 to local education. Additionally, the development will also see the construction of a care home and convenience store for the local community.

Located on a former industrial site, the development will see around a quarter of the combined development dedicated to newly-created green space with outdoor play areas, a park and green corridors.

Justin added; “We already have a development in the area at Holmebank Gardens, Honley (pictured above) which is proving popular, and in the past have enjoyed successful developments around Huddersfield and Halifax.

“We look forward to providing high-quality, sustainable homes, and investing in the neighbourhood to ensure the community we help build in Huddersfield, and the people living in it, can grow and prosper.”

The brownfield site is located just a short drive from Huddersfield and is situated close to the open countryside of the Colne Valley.

Homes across the site will range from one to five-bedroom properties.

It is expected Hawksley Park will open towards the end of 2025.
