The
Fife town sits across the Firth of Forth from
Edinburgh, to which either a drive or a train journey across the magnificent Queensferry Crossing takes around 50 minutes.
Perth,
Dundee and St Andrews are similar journey times away, putting Kirkaldy in a prime location for easy travelling.
The Adam Smith Theatre holds theatrical and musical performances, as well as being a cinema showing both arthouse and mainstream films. Kirkcaldy Galleries, the town’s major museum, art gallery and central library, also provides plenty of interest.

For golfing fans, Dunnikier Park includes a well regarded golf course. Meanwhile, the Fife Ice Arena is home to the oldest ice hockey team in the UK — the Fife Flyers. At the opposite end of the town, Stark’s Park is the home of Raith Rovers Football Club.
Four secondary schools are based in Kirkcaldy. They are Kirkcaldy High, Viewforth High, Balwearie High and St Andrew’s RC High, along with several primary schools.
