Location, Location, Location: East Kilbride

East Kilbride, historically known as the first new town of Scotland, is located in South Lanarkshire. Offering homeowners a great work-life balance with easy commuting links, plenty of outdoor green spaces and local amenities, East Kilbride is an ideal place for families to put down roots.

Our Jackton Gardens development, located in the small village of Jackton, on the outskirts of East Kilbride, is the perfect place to buy a new-build home.

Here's what makes East Kilbride such a fantastic location…

Easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh

East Kilbride station is a great railway link to Glasgow City Centre, with regular arrivals to Glasgow in 30 minutes, ideal for commuting. Easy access through Glasgow's network of motorways means a short drive to Glasgow via the M74, while Edinburgh can be reached in just over an hour via the M8.

The central location of East Kilbride means there are plenty of attractions for day trips, including the charming coastal town of Troon and the shores of Loch Lomond, which are both reachable in under 2 hours.

Local amenities on your doorstep

With plenty of shopping spots across the town, East Kilbride has everything you could need and more. Kingsgate retail park is home to a range of popular shops, including a Nike outlet store, TK Maxx and a Sainsbury's superstore. Catch a movie at the Odeon Lux cinema, go ice skating or grab a bite to eat at The Hub, all of which are located in the East Kilbride Shopping Centre.

The centre of town

The old village of East Kilbride is a popular spot with locals at the weekends. With traditional cobblestone streets lined with pubs and restaurants, it's the perfect spot to get to know the locals. The Torrance Hotel promises a great night out with good food, or if you fancy something a bit more exotic, why not give Tinto Tapas bar a visit. East Kilbride has its fair share of Italian cuisine, many of which can be found in the village, with Arigo and Zucca being front runners as local legends.

Take a family stroll

There is no shortage of walks for everyone to enjoy in the beautiful scenic surroundings of East Kilbride. Calderglen Country Park is a local favourite, with woodland trails along the River Calder, a children's play area, a café in the courtyard of the old castle, and a mini-zoo with a host of animals including meerkats. Langland's Moss Nature Reserve offers a riverside walk as well as a boardwalk over the raised peat bog habitat. The James Hamilton Heritage Park is also a popular spot for walking, hiring a pedalo or feeding the ducks.
