Five Interior Trends We Endorse for Spring

With spring on the horizon, it may be time to make some changes to your home. Keeping up to date with ever changing trends is impossible so we’ve narrowed it down to five of the most timeless and consistent trends going into 2020.
1. Structured Simplicity
Evolving from a few Nordic/Scandi trends of past year this look is a stripped-back version. The purpose is to create a calm, comfy, chilled-out space to relax in – it’s all about making your home a safe, inviting space to rest and recuperate. The neutrals should be warming not grey to give the room a more uplifting feel. Go for considered choices like recycled materials, upcycled furniture and faux furs or leathers. Always be mindful of the sustainability of what you’re buying.
2. Abstract Ideas
If you’re looking for something a little bolder another emerging trend involves many abstract prints. The trend takes inspiration from cubism artwork with bold geometric patterns, hand drawn sketches and playful blocks of colour – it’s all about expressing personality in your home. Translating from canvas, this trend is best represented on cushions, duvet covers, statement rugs and wallpaper designs.
3. Soft Tropics (a continuing theme from 2019)
This uplifting trend is a joyous celebration of nature. The botanical prints are delivered in a softer format, diluted by an earthy green colour palette this season. Bring the outside in and add a couple of real (or faux) plants to your home to really make your space a tropical paradise. The only way is up for plants it seems as Pinterest predicts vertical gardens are on the rise this year. Palm prints are the key motif in this look, whether real or as part of a fabric or wallpaper design.
4. Texture is Everything
Texture is increasingly being used to add extra dimension to rooms. Layering up different textures in the same, or similar colours is a very popular look right now. It's perfect if you are big on neutrals and need to find different ways to decorate without using too many colours. Cushions and blankets are an easy way to achieve this look, however, try bringing in textures with plants, dried flower prints and well curated knick-knacks.
5. Velvet Dreams
Velvet may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s going to be steaming hot and trendy in 2020. It’s the perfect blend of luxury and comfort. Sofas and chairs are the turning point in this trend, spoilt for choice on style, colour and size, there’s one out there for everyone.
