We are looking to recruit a Planning Manager to join our team team based in our West Midlands region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
- Obtaining planning permissions on all submitted applications through successful management of applications, liaising with the LPA, internal team and external consultants.
- Providing detailed planning appraisals on potential immediate land, looking for opportunities to maximise land bids.
- Obtaining planning permissions and provide general Town and Country planning advice to the Technical Team and the wider business, where necessary.
- Co-ordinating disciplines within the Technical and Land teams for the programming and submission of planning applications
- Managing external consultants (e.g. architectural, landscaping, ecological etc) for the preparation of required reports/appraisals to support planning application submissions.
- Liaising with Internal Planning Solicitor on the preparation of Legal Agreements.
- Managing and co-ordinating s106 Schedules and Planning Conditions Schedules with the Planning Assistant and Technical Team.
- Dealing with the LPA on complex planning matters and possible enforcement matters.
- Attending (and organising) key team meetings with internal colleagues.
- Attending Committee Meetings, public consultation events and community engagement with various interest groups.
- Day to day management of time and tasks.
Key Capabilities Required
- To have a sound knowledge and understanding of the planning process
- To have excellent presentation and communication skills
- To be a good negotiator and be capable of addressing a variety of audiences
- The ability to mentor and guide junior members of the team
- To be self-motivated, creative and positive
- To be able to influence key decision makers
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
- To be a qualified Town Planner, either MRTPI or MRICS P&D
- To have worked for a house-builder or a consultancy with private house-building experience
- Working knowledge of project plans, report writing, material forecasts and budgets
- Qualified in Planning to degree level or by equivalent experience
