West Dunbartonshire covers an area to the north west of Glasgow, and includes several commuter towns along the banks of the River Clyde, as well as stunning rural landscapes.
The area extends up to the shore of Loch Lomond and the edge of the Trossachs National Park. The A82 road takes you from Clydebank, with its shopping and amenities, north-west through the small towns and villages of Bowling, Dumbarton, and Alexandria to the loch. This route makes these locations perfect for anyone commuting to Glasgow.
Other landmarks to explore include the historic Dumbarton Castle and the dramatic Overtoun House. Meanwhile, the Kilpatrick Hills, which include The Slack mountain just outside Dumbarton, are regularly described as one of the most stunning places to go for a hike.
Schools in the area include Dumbarton Academy, Clydebank High School and Vale of Leven Academy, along with many high-quality primary schools. All are easily accessible as they sit in the populated corridor along the bank of the Clyde.
Trains run regularly into Glasgow Queen Street or Central stations, providing dependable travel for everyone. The journey takes around 15 minutes from Clydebank, or just 50 minutes from Balloch at the edge of Loch Lomond to travel the whole length of West Dunbartonshire.
